If you are interested in this type of conflict-of-interest case I would look at the Cell Therapeutics/Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Institute case from about ten years ago. (Maybe a few more at this point.) The funding for the FHCRC studies was somehow intertwined with the board of director’s at Cell Therapeutics. It led to conflict-of-interest decisions about whether to continue trials on their drug candidate. The drug ended up doing much more harm than good. I think the Seattle Times did a series of articles about the case.

It’s not just cell phones! Aaaagghhhhh! What alarms me is not that there are people who believe they are affected by em. There are people who believe all sorts of outrageous things. It’s the attention they receive from journalists that worries. Likewise the attention the anti em folks get from the City of Santa Fe and the New Mexican lends the subject an importance it does not deserve.

I look forward to your book, and it is interesting to read about its development, and hear about it on bloggingheads.

I am currently reading In the Palaces of Memory, and have read Fire in the Mind both of which I can heartily recommend.
The subject areas of these two books are more my natural interests, rather than cancer , but I will get your new book as you have a talent for making a subject interesting and understandable to the layperson.
